I love a wedding! The emotion, the romance, the energy, the style, the ceremony, the setting - it's little wonder I find them such a joy to shoot.

As your photographer I see my role as simple one - to tell the story of your day by capturing every moment and distilling them into a collection of fresh, beautifully shot memories.

Apart from the formal group photos, I prefer to shoot in a fly on the wall style - so taking images of you and your guests when you're oblivious to me and interacting with each other in way that is both authentic and spontaneous. This can be particularly powerful at the beginning of the day when friends and family are re-connecting with each other possibly after time apart.

Finally, given my background as a director, I'm not only adept at getting the best out of the people I'm shooting but I'm also very aware that schedules and circumstances can change (especially when the weather's involved) so I'm used to taking any disruptions in my stride and calmly going with the flow.

My Approach

I've always worked in a creative capacity - initially as a designer, writer and director of music videos in the UK for the likes of AC/DC, Elton John, Whitney Houston, U2 and...Liverpool FC.

I came to Australia on holiday and somehow forgot to go back (I think the English winter had something to do with it) and for the last thirty years I've been based in Sydney directing TV commercials and digital content projects around the country and across most of Asia.

Alongside my professional work, however, photography has always been a passion - whether it's shooting gigs from the pit, recording life on the city's streets, or covering events for family and friends. In recent years, I've also been asked to photograph a number of weddings, and having thoroughly enjoyed the experience, I thought I'd combine my love of the medium with my skill for storytelling and become a wedding photographer full time.

Over the course of my career I've obviously gained a huge amount of experience in lighting and composition, as well as making people feel relaxed and comfortable in front of the camera, whether they're pop stars, sports stars, CEOs or just regular members of the public. As your wedding photographer, I'll be combining all those skills and that experience to tell the story of your special day.
